Jerry forewarned Karl he might not get the job since he had to notify the owner about the events which led to his ending up at the hospital. Karl mentioned to Jerry how good he was at lawnmower repairs so, with that knowledge, Jerry figured he could do well working for his friend. Jerry offered to get Karl a job there to help coincide with his readjustment to life outside the hospital. Jerry also reminded Karl his authority did not extend to placing him back in the hospital's care so, to assist him, he notified him of a friend in Millsberg who ran a repair shop. In Sling Blade, a mentally disabled man Karl Childers (Billy Bob Thornton) is released from a hospital years after killing his mother and the man she was having an affair with. The knives in this series feature G10 handles, D2 tool steel drop point blade, lanyard holes each knife comes with a black nylon belt sheath with buckle closure for easy storage. Karl asked him if he could continue living there but Jerry said that was not possible since Karl was now a free man. Jerry was surprised one day when he noticed Karl enter his office at the state hospital since he had just been released from there. Hampton, born in 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma played Jerry Woolridge. That same year, he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for "Sling Blade". Other Oscar nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role that year were Tom Cruise for "Jerry Maguire", Ralph Fiennes for "The English Patient" and Woody Harrelson for "The People vs. In 1997, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for "Sling Blade" but lost to Geoffrey Rush for "Shine". Thornton starred in the movies, "Bad Santa", "Armageddon" and "Monster's Ball". One noticeable trait with Karl was his tendency to end most sentences saying, "Mm-Hm". Right after Doyle left Linda's house, Linda offered Karl coffee but he said the drink made him nervous when he consumed it. Karl was at Linda's home one evening when her boyfriend, Doyle, in a fit of anger called him a "retard". Woolridge was shocked to learn Karl did not sleep at all the night before his first day of work. Karl once mentioned he worked well at fixing lawn mowers so he was offered a job at a repair shop in Millsberg. He spoke with a psychology student for an interview right before he was released from the hospital to start a new life for himself. This led to him being confined to a state psychiatric institution for most his life. We learned early on in the film that Karl one day cut up his mother and her love with a blade when he was a child. Thornton, born on August 4th, 1955 in Hot Springs, Arkansas was cast as Karl Childers.

The war between Unicron and Primus came to its seeming end during a climactic battle in which one of the Thirteen, who would forever afterwards be known as The Fallen, betrayed Primus and became an acolyte of Unicron. When Unicron then learned to transform his planetary form even further, into a gigantic robot form, Primus adapted the idea to suit his own ends, creating a group of thirteen robots that possessed the ability to change shape, like Unicron. Unfortunately for him, over time, Unicron learned to psionically shape his prison into a giant metallic planet, and Primus followed suit, becoming the mechanical world of Cybertron. It was with this act of sacrifice that Primus hoped to contain Unicron's evil forever. In cunning, however, he proved himself to be his brother's superior when he shifted their battle to the astral plane, and then back to the physical world once more, only to have both their essences manifest within metallic planetoids, leaving them both trapped. In combat, Primus was no match for Unicron. 15.2 Transformers Energon: Battle for MegatronĪs Unicron and Primus went about their appointed task, venturing through the cosmos, it became apparent to Primus that Unicron was a corrupt being, and he took it upon himself to stop the threat posed to all of existence by his sibling.4 2001 Robots in Disguise continuity family.1.1 Evolution of the Primus/Unicron myth. And in the end, Unicron's plans ultimately call for their consumption as well. Service to Unicron, however, is a double-edged sword, for it causes insanity and loss of self. These minions are sometimes stripped entirely of free will, but others follow willingly. To a being of chaos and uncreation, this font of life is a poison.įrequently, Unicron will make deals with lesser beings, promising them vast new powers in exchange for their servitude. The only thing that he fears is Primus's essence, contained inside the Matrix of Leadership. For much of multiversal history, the singularity Unicron threatened all of existence, but now, that is no longer the case, and versions of Unicron are now restricted to their own dimensions. Various permutations of Unicron can spawn into existence outside the trappings of the larger entity, hailing from a more mundane origin but possessing the same consumptive traits. Seen at a detached distance from the multiverse, this collective " Unicron Phenomenon" acts with the characteristics of a virus or plague seeping through reality, succeeding where it can, retreating when it cannot. With these abilities at his disposal, Unicron has thus far devoured approximately 22.56% of known universes. Integrated into his systems are incomprehensible quantum computers which calculate probabilities forward and backwards in time, in perpetuity, giving his processors an ever changing, evolving map of the multiverse. To undertake this seemingly overwhelming task, Unicron is able to travel across realities at will, a meandering plague upon existence itself. Unicron will not be sated until his ultimate goal is attained: to bring an end to the annoying creation boasting independence around him, and find peace by becoming the living center of a swirling, infinite torrent of nothingness at the end of all things. His massive form is powered by the consumption of planets, moons, stars, and even the very fabric of existence. Also known as the Lord of Chaos, the Chaos Bringer, and the Planet Eater, he is dedicated to consuming the multiverse. Unicron is the eternal arch-enemy of his twin brother Primus. He's been ignoring Galactus's C&D letters. As she will bring the most fun out of the game. Now every lobby needs some chaos in it regardless. I really feel that he would do that and would win a lot as an imposter in general. Then somehow convince you that you killed the person yourself as a crewmate. As the way that this man would play is having a crewmate look you in the eye and kill right in front of you. This to me would be the ultimate imposter. Also with the possibility of him being an imposter it would be fun to see him in that role. Also among this lobby of tense characters he would be the mediator until he is dead bringing chaos. As his detective skills are among the best in anime. Now this man would be the ultimate crewmate. Them going back and forth and both as crewmates and imposter would be interesting to see. With L saying before the game even starts that if Light kills him you must vote him off. For example, Light would most likely kill L first every round. As for when Among Us will receive its next patch, or its next big patch, that remains to be seen. The cosmetics will be a great reward for dedicated players to unlock as they play, too. The new update for Among Us should make for an overall better experience in-game, at least in small ways. Overall, more than a dozen bugs were fixed in the update. Some cosmetics have also been bugging out the Among Us in-game chat if players scrolled through the logs. For example, certain hat cosmetics were previously kind of broken, but have been fixed to display correctly. This information will include the reason for the ban, the ban's end date, and a link to the Among Us Code of Conduct.īeyond content additions and UI changes, this update also addresses various bugs in Among Us. Going forward, more specific information regarding a player's ban will be displayed. Previously, those banned would get a generic error about being disconnected if they tried to join matchmaking. One other substantial change, a change that's surprising it hasn't been addressed before, has to do with Sanctions - in-game bans and punishments. Lastly, Cosmicubes are now appropriately marked if they're time-limited and have visual indicators to point out which cosmetics and Cosmicubes have already been purchased. There are also new sorting options in the store, allowing Among Us players to sort by what's new. A new tab has also been added in the store for purchasing Stars. Those opening the store will find a new up-front Featured section, which will focus on the latest cosmetic content added to the game. The next most substantial change to Among Us has to do with overall polish for the game's storefront. RELATED: Among Us Teases Changes Coming in Future Updates The Feast Cosmicube costs 110 Stars and includes similar snacks, as well as a loaf of bread dog, a jelly mini-companion, and a hot dog suit, among other cosmetics. Not only will there be new Among Us cosmetic Cosmicubes available to spend Stars and Beans on, but the store has received some polish and clarity will be provided regarding official Sanctions. In its latest developer log, Innersloth broke down the latest Among Us patch, confirming the addition of anticipated changes. The triumphant Achaeans have a celebration and funeral for Patroclus. He drags Hector’s body behind his chariot across the battlefield back to the Achaean camp. It is at this point that Achilles is able to kill Hector. The goddess Athena intervenes and tricks Hector into turning around mid-chase. At last, Achilles reaches Hector and the two battle. He even fights the river god, Xanthus, who is angered by how many bodies Achilles has caused to fall into his river. Achilles is emboldened by his rage and kills many Trojan warriors. Hector and his men are camping outside the walls of Troy, but the Trojan army flees in terror when they see Achilles. The god Hephaestus forges Achilles a new set of armor and Achilles leads the Achaeans into battle the following day. Thetis travels to Mount Olympus to plead with the gods for help in battle. He agrees at this point to mend the rift between himself and Agamemnon and rejoins the battle. Achilles is filled with grief and rage after learning of his dear friend’s death. Hector kills Patroclus in battle and steals Achilles’s armor. Patroclus’s presence does help the Achaean army somewhat, but it can only last for so long before the Trojans regroup. He creates a plan in which his friend Patroclus will take his place in battle using Achilles’s armor. As much hope as this brings to the Achaeans, the Trojans are still able to beat the Achaean soldiers back until they reach the Achaean camp.Īchilles is concerned for his military comrades, but he is still too proud to take any action to help them. The Achaeans are continually beaten down until finally, a nighttime mission conducted by Odysseus and Diomedes allows them to uncover Trojan war plans. There are many outstanding duels between figures such as Paris and Menelaus as well as Ajax and Hector. With Zeus on the side of the Trojans and Achilles refusing to fight, the Achaeans begin to suffer grave losses in the war. He enlists the services of Zeus, king of the gods, to slant the battling against the Achaeans so that they will lose the war. Achilles is insulted and furious and refuses to fight against the Trojans anymore. He then demands that Achilles give him Briseis. Many Achaeans die from this plague, Agamemnon reluctantly sends Chryseis home. Her father is a priest of the god Apollo, so Chryseis prays to Apollo who hears her and send a plague to the Achaean camp. Chryseis’s father puts out a ransom for his daughter to come home, but Agamemnon refuses. He keeps Chryseis and gives Briseis to Achilles. When, after nine years of fighting with the Trojans, the Greeks (Achaeans) capture two young maidens, the Achaean leader Agamemnon takes them as war prizes. The Iliad and The Odyssey are two of the greatest examples of the epic poem genre to this day for this reason. This gives the poem a historical context as well that not only helps people understand the oral tradition of storytelling and the values of these ancient people but the social and political context in which they operated. To live like a god would live meant that a human had high moral superiority.įurthermore, although the Trojan year was believed to be fictious for a long time, there is now archeological evidence that Troy really existed and possibly did fall to the Greeks. Because of this, many humans lived up to values that were godly in nature-heroic qualities such as super-human strength, bravery, honesty, etc. Many philosophers believed that the Bronze Age was a time of moral and artistic superiority in which humans worked in tandem with the gods and were punished for going against the gods. What is The Iliad About? Set in the Bronze Age, The Iliad provides a historical look at how society in this time view morality and heroism. Major Symbols: The shield of Achilles The Greek shipsĬlimax: Achilles returns to the war and the Trojans suffer a great defeat, ensuring the fall of Troy. Plot: Past tense, told by an omniscient third person narrator. Achilles then refuses to fight in the Greek army, which causes them to suffer losses to the Trojans. Apollo hears her prayers and sends a plague to the Greek military camp.Ĭonflict: Agamemnon demands Achilles’s war prize (the maiden Briseis), which hurts Achilles’s pride greatly. Chryseis’s father offers a ransom for his daughter, but Agamemnon refuses to return her. The Greek army captures Chryseis and Briseis, two beautiful maidens from an ally town to Troy. Major Thematic Elements: The glory of war heroes military victories valued above personal life the fleeting nature of human existenceĮxposition: It is nine years after the beginning of the Trojan War. If you decide you want to go customer service, flight attendant, or another position outside the union contract your pay grade and seniority will reset and you have to be in your current position for a year in order to transfer. You keep your seniority and pay grade if you transfer at any time to any of those three. So you can transfer to any of those positions after 6 months and your off probation. Provisioning, Operations agents (OPS, the people who scan tickets at the gates, and Ramp agents are all under the same union. Plus you pretty much stay out of the elements, you’re in your truck or inside the plane loading / stocking. You literally drive a big truck up to the plane, and load the snacks and drinks and ice, sometimes mop/clean but other than that you work on your own, and do your own thing. If you see a provo position posted take that. But I only plan to work it for the 6 months and get off probation and then transfer positions. The only position that was available to me at the time here in DEN was ramp. Even if you just use the ramp as a stepping stone. Southwest is a really good company to work for. However if you’re at a smaller station that does less than 10 flights a day more than likely those stations are not unionized. There is so many little things that I still keep finding out about. You don’t have to show up to any part of that shift that falls in that 10 hour window but you will still get paid for those hours. 10 hour rest rule where if you’re mando’d within 10 hours of your regular shift you’re entitled to a 10 hour rest window. Stayed 5 minutes past your off time to help a supervisor out? The minimum they have to pay you for is. For example, didn’t get a lunch? You get paid. There are so many little bonuses and pluses to being in a union. But if you can stick it through your first year or two, you’ve got a solid company to work for. If you decide to join, it’ll be tough at first. Very rarely does bad weather shut the ramp down with the exclusion of lightning. Cold, heat, rain, shine, the operations continue on. Keep in mind as a ramp agent, you’re working outside in the elements. You can transfer stations or positions within your union after 6 months and you’re off probation. We are currently in union negotiations so this is expected to increase in the next year or two. Right now with current union negotiations you can top out around $33 an hour after just ten years I believe. On Christmas and thanksgiving if you work you get paid triple time ($40/hr). However you get paid double time ($30/hr) for any mando shift or extension. When you first join the company your seniority is low, so you’re the first to get hit with things like mandatory overtime. As your seniority goes up from being with the company longer you get first pick from the schedules. You bid for your schedules either on a monthly or 2 month basis. As long as you can find someone to trade with or give away to you can do whatever you want. The possibilities and shift flexibility is amazing at southwest. We have people that’ll give away all their shifts in a month and work every other month. We have people working double buddy bids where they’ll work a double 3 days in a row and 4 days off. this is easier in a larger station (Denver for example). This company is extremely flexible with shift trading, giving away, etc. Very decent insurnace, free flights (on a stand by basis), pet insurnace, and much more. You get a 9.3% (I think? Might be higher?) 401k match which is quite competitive. The benefits are killer compared to other airlines. You’re technically not considered a union member until you’re out of probation (6 months). There are union dues once you’re off probation. This offers you a lot of protections and job security. As a ramp agent you’re unionized, as others have mentioned. Firstly, what station (airport)? Experiences can vary widely depending on what station you’re at. Shake them along the way and make sure to look closely, because cooking time vary depending on the size of your slices. Most people are just willing to give Echtra a chance and accept their stated desire to work with the community at face value. I don't think I've seen anyone give f2p a glowing review. Personally I have yet to see ANYONE being supportive NOT being critical of aspects they think need work. So yeah-I take exception to you lumping everyone who shows the least bit of reasonableness into one group. Hell-back when Torchlight II came out I trashed the writing and was super-critical of legendaries in that game being weaksauce item name vs item effect-wise. Yeah some of them are my friends but that doesn't mean I don't call shit I see as negative negative.even if it means I feel like I'm stabbing them in the back sonetimes (that's more my own self-esteem issues than anything having to do with reality-they've always been more than clear to me that they welcome criticism no matter who it's from). I've been plenty critical here, on Discord and to one of the devs via pm. If you don't like it, don't support it - it's really that simple. I always find this level of 'fan ownership' disturbing, as though a game is owed to you and must cater to you specifically. Obviously the game needs some sort of monetization, but if it's something I strongly disagree with, I'll simply opt out of it and likely cease playing. I basically don't even consider buying games (especially with $40-60+ price tags) unless it's by a AAA developer that I know I'm going to put years into playing (my two most recent purchases were Overwatch and Diablo 3, to give you an idea of how often those games come around for me).Ī free-to-play model is much more enticing to me, as it gives me ample opportunity to try a game. If Perfect World or Echtra wants my money, fucking put a price tag on the game instead of the bullshit cash grabbing P2W.Įh, I'm much more likely to play a game like Torchlight Frontiers if it's free-to-play versus having an initial cost. Diablo 3 was the main reason I got into Torchlight 2. It was obvious that if it's part of the business model, they'll change things like drop rates to make people pay more actual money. (and why sell someone a horse when you can rent him one instead?)įor those of us that remember the early Diablo 3 days with the auction house and all that. Why allow people to run if you can force them to walk and also sell them a horse? So instead of improving quality of life for players, we get these same improvements locked behind paywalls. You can play for free as long as you like, but some things are just not as good.īut the entire P2W machine is built so that non paying players get a worse experience. A lot of people keep saying "so what if it's P2W, I'll just not pay and play as long as I like, joke's on them, ha ha". I just want to say something general (instead of replying to a dozen similar comments below). This plugin gives you a GUI editor for the chrome colour scheme. The second stage is darkening the chrome of the UI, which is all the widgets and menus and everything outside of the child window canvases. They explain how to install their themes very well ( ), although you get a fine set of dark themes with the default plugin install and may not need to come back to their website for any more. My favourite editor theme is Vibrant Ink with the Monaco font. That can be done with the Eclipse Colour Theme plugin ( ). The first is to change the appearance of what is inside the editor windows. One solution which (mostly) work is the Eclipse Chrome Theme (compatible Juno 4.2 and even Kepler 4.3), from the GitHub project eclipse-themes, by Jeeeyul Lee. It seems the solution below don't work well with Eclipse Juno 4.2 and Windows 8, according to Lennart in the comments. Plug-ins can contribute extensions to this theme to style their own specific views and editors to match the window theme. You can enable it from the General > Appearance preference page. This popular community theme demonstrates the power of the underlying Eclipse 4 styling engine. Syntax highlighting has also been improved to take advantage of the new look.Ī new dark window theme has been introduced. The theme extends to more than just the Widgets. Now, 10 years later, an entirely new Dark Theme is launching. When Eclipse 3.0 shipped in 2004 it brought a new look to the workbench. Dark theme works well with Eclipse 4.5 onward with Windows 10.Īs mentioned din " Dark Theme, Top Eclipse Luna Feature #5", Eclipse 4.4 (Luna) has a dark theme included in it (see informatik01's comment): A skill tree has been introduced, allowing you to choose how you upgrade each character's weapons and abilities as you go along, increasing the number and types of items Amadeus can conjure and giving extra powers to initially prosaic weapons such as Pontius's hammer and Zoya's arrows. Trine 2 is very similar to the first game - why change a winning formula, after all? However, the distinctive graphics have been tweaked and the marvellous physics engine is put to even better use than before, with puzzles involving streams of water that can be redirected, columns of air upon which you can balance magically created platforms and giant trampoline-like mushrooms for extra-high bouncing. In general, though, if you manage to keep calm and resist the urge to throw your PC through the nearest window, even the hardest of precision jumping exercises can be vanquished, no matter what control system you use. If you can get used to using a joypad, this title definitely benefits from one. Most of the puzzles require a combination of careful thought and fast reflexes, although in some cases the speed requirement for getting across the screen feels a bit unfair - we were frequently foiled by lever-controlled bridges that rose too quickly for us to make it across the screen. The muscle of the team is provided by Pontius the knight, who can hack his way through enemies with sword and shield and destroy obstacles with his hammer. The bulk of the puzzle solving is down to Amadeus the wizard, who uses psychokinesis to move distant objects and conjure boxes and platforms to build routes around treacherous spikes and poison-spitting flowers. She also gets ranged weaponry in the form of arrows. She can jump higher and further than her lumbering companions, while her grappling hook allows her to spear distant wooden beams and platforms to pull them down or swing around the screen. Zoya, the thief, is particularly skilful when it comes to acrobatic feats. This handy bit of plotting explains why you can traverse the world, switching from one character to another as required by the challenges you face. The magical Trine crystal has summoned our heroes and once again bound them together into a single being to protect the realm. This sequel is very much in the same mould. I do love the way the bosses are foreshadowed early on in levels, though.Trine was one our favourite games of 2010 a beautifully designed platform puzzler set in a fantasy land of knights, thieves, wizards and walking skeletons. Trine 2: Complete Story is an impressive realisation of a magical and whimsical tale that you can see and play. Merely crossing a chasm can be a real conundrum, but felling a giant beast is as simple as giving it a few whacks to its weak spots. While visually impressive, they don't require the same thought as the rest of Trine 2. The few boss fights prove slightly disappointing. I find the game becomes easier this way because you've got more than just one brain working on problems and you can multitask, but it's still satisfying. Trine 2 is also very friendly about multiplayer gaming, allowing up to three players to join the adventure either locally or online. In a matter of moments you might slash through some goblins as the knight, switch to the thief to grapple to a high platform, then switch to the wizard to move a heavy block in front of a flame thrower. When playing by yourself you switch between the three heroes at will. That's really cool, but it would have been nice to get a heads-up before I found myself stuck at the bottom of an ice slope for a little too long. The wizards platforms, for instance, can be stuck to swinging spiked maces, resulting in a pendulum conveyance. It does fail to teach the player some important mechanics, though, resulting in slight exasperation when you don't realize a solution is even possible. I love it when a game lets me off my leash and tells me "have fun," - and that's the kind of game Trine 2 is. The brilliance of Trine 2 is that it mostly leaves the choice of which hero to use up to you. You have three heroes at your disposal: a wizard that can conjure blocks and platforms, a thief with a bow and grappling hook, and a knight with sword, hammer, and shield. Players run from left to right through fantasy spectacles, surmounting obstacles and slaying a few goblins along the way. Trine 2 is a sidescrolling game of action, puzzles and platforming where you play as one of Three Heroes who make their way through dangers untold in a fantastical fairytale world. Play If you played the first Trine, you'll find a very familiar game here. |
